Akanian World – Fairy Tale – True Life
Ten years ago I felt the necessity to create a fairy character in order to imagine another life for me, where things and events would mean clearly the sense of my vision and my need and desire to find sense of my real life.
Logotherapy gave me the strength to create a sort of map with fairy characters interacting together; I used metaphors most of the time, each figure played bodily metaphor of anorexia. This game with multiple identities helped me to describe different faces of anorexia; I wanted to see trough my eyes of anorexic person and also telling about the regard of the others concerning this creative illness.
The Heroine “AKAN” appears in the first post and then, public, discover AKAN’s Tower; where all tenants share their pain and fantasy.
Some of them could be called metaphors of anorexia, others could be identified as enemies of anorexia, and with time, every character unveils his true identity.
The target of this very simple building strategy allows people to smile about tragedy and suffering. As Victor Frankl said:
- Life has meaning under all circumstances, even the most miserable ones.
- Our main motivation for living is our will to find meaning in life.
- We have freedom to find meaning in what we do, and what we experience, or at least in the stance we take when faced with a situation of unchangeable suffering.
Telling about my illness didn’t interest me at all; I wanted to heal and I felt the only way was to understand what was happening inside me.
Photographs came as words instead of blablabla; I left my unconscious lead my creation and dream having free hand……..
