Honoring one Hero: Jean-René Ruez – the Srebrenica genocide Investigator.

{-(Jean-René Ruez, a senior French police official, was the central figure in establishing the facts about the executions of at least 8,372 Bosniacs in Srebrenica.
As a Chief Investigator for Srebrenica appointed by the Hague Tribunal, Jean-René Ruez has spent the past 14 years working tirelessly to collect the evidence of the Srebrenica genocide and prove that the massacres were planned and covered up in an attempt to hide the crime.
Before being appointed to lead what became the biggest criminal investigation in Europe since World War II, Jean-René Ruez studied law and entered in the elite French police commissioners’ school.
He worked as a Senior police investigator in Paris, Marseille and then Nice.
After joining the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, he went straight to the field collecting evidence – going as far as digging out mass graves.
Haunted by all he has learned and worn down by the weight of his responsibility, Jean-René Ruez has sacrificed everything to try and hold the guilty to account.
His contribution to the truth about the Srebrenica genocide is enormous.
Through his eyes, we gain a fresh perspective on what happened at Srebrenica.

He gave evidence that Bosnian Serb forces had killed and tortured refugees at will.
Streets were littered with corpses, he said, and rivers were red with blood.
Many people committed suicide to avoid having their noses, lips and ears chopped off, he said.
Following these murders, the victims of Srebrenica were buried in mass graves that continue to mark the landscape with traces of the crime.}{cf Srebrenica genocide blog}.
Reading the press, I found other words of witnesses, investigators, writers, journalists: “In a five-day orgy of slaughter at Srebrenica in July 1995, up to 8000 Muslims were systematically exterminated in what was described at the U.N. war crimes tribunal as “the triumph of evil.”
“What made it worse was the genocide took place in what had been designated a U.N. “safe area” three months earlier.”
A judge at The Hague tribunal was later to describe what happened in Srebrenica as “truly scenes from hell written on the darkest pages of human history.”
Thousands of Bosnian Muslims had sought refuge in the spa town of Srebrenica in 1995 as the Bosnian Serb army marched towards them.
They were protected by just 100 lightly equipped Dutch peacekeepers – who proved no match for the advancing, heavily-armed Serb army.
“So that region was the theatre of a fierce manhunt, and I know that they were collecting people at three locations.
One of them was the stadium near Nova Kasaba.
The second one was a farm, agricultural farm in the village of Kravica.
The third location was an elementary school or part of a factory in Kravica.”
“The Bosnian Serbs, sought both to annihilate the Bosniac presence from the Srebrenica enclave and to hide all evidence of the deed.

Anorexic Akan was thinking about the little paper doll she had just met.
Such a convulsive paroxysmal figure!
There was so much suffering in this paper girl!

What could childhood have been like in this sheet embodied little girl?
Effectively she was consciously flat and light self-embodied, because it was certainly the only way she had found to stay alive.
Becoming a featureless flat creature, glossy and nearly transparent, fragile and weak like a sheet of paper!
Can you imagine the sort of life she must have had until that day?
Akan knew why she had refused to get a rear facet and a thick body with inside vital organs and dark entrails.
She had to care for her life every second, because at anytime a bad thing might happen to her, coming from behind, or from the side.
Something hurting her deeply, even though she was only a sheet of paper.
Betsy Mac Call exhibited this frontal view without secrets and sexual entry, because she had been abused by adult eyes, by adult hands, by adult sex.
And she was not able to deal with that again.
But not only that, Betsy Mac Call was the “object a” of an empowered mother with a bewitching enchanting voice and sharp hazel eyes, who left no place for life and security.
This amazing woman losing all her dreams about being famous, had been constrained to marry a busy successful man, who had fucked her regularly and lead her to successive pregnancies in the bloom of her life.
And then, that was that.
Betsy standing here in the middle of nowhere, like a ghostly stiff shape without shade, without consideration, without any weight of importance.
Furthermore Dad had nothing to do with all this unilateral ascendancy, he worked too much and had dreams.Dreams of freedom and beauty.
He was so far from seeing, or guessing, what was happening in Betsy’s life.
Yes this uncomfortable incarnation of paper life represented the perfect hell of anorexia.
Akan recognized fellow feeling in her heart and fell under the charm of Betsy Mac Call.
Permanently heartbroken Betsy could be torn up and used as a sop by anyone, easily pleased and happy to play with weaker women, innocent creature.
Shameless people could burn her with cigarettes and consume her entire body in a second of life.
And then other potbellied women might crumple her and hurt her to death, by bending her in several pieces or pulling her to lethal bits.
Then Akan thought about Betsy’s eyes, limbs, and thin core.
So much aggressiveness could be spread on her defenseless expressive body.
It seemed Betsy had accepted to play the rule of the perfect victim.

As a photographer and as an anorexic woman photographer,
I’ve always used expressionists ways, and border-line ways to express myself with my photographs since 1977.
I didn’t choose the easy way, the aseptic way, the fashion way to tell the implacable illness I had to deal with,
and the exceptional gift of anorexia: sharp-eye, acute lucidity, specific search in the Absolute.
At the age of 17, I began my self-portraits, without fear and superficiality, trying to connect with my authentic life.
It was in 1982, my first exhibition in Galerie 666, rue Maître Albert, Paris 4ème, was a time bomb,
because nobody told about anorexia, expect Valérie Valère or Sheila MacLeod and Julia Kristeva.
The secret language of anorexia became public and it was the first time, anorexic self-portraits
were showed in a Gallery (Galerie 666 – PARIS ) in the world. (Gallery closed in 1988).
Today many pseudo artists play with the subject which has became a growth niche.
And now the subject is sterilized and covered up with esthetic commercial pictures they’re sold in Art fairs.
But the tortured soul of anorexia is still here and stays helpless and uncontrollable.
I tried to “enter” my work on wikipedia in order to participate to the “community”.
I was immediately rejected, because I work on the reasons of anorexia and not on the effects.
In addition of this, I’ve watched a program on TV about Stockholm solution in a specialized clinic
for anorexic daughters of wealthy families, which was the perfect demonstration of a growth business.

I’ve seen pictures made by deutsch photographer Yvonne Thein.
[These pictures were "intended as a mocking and satirical take on pro-ana".
But these pictures have been nevertheless used as inspiration by anorexic persons. Wikipedia ]
That means for me, these double edged pictures equivocate deliberately.
Because I think this photographer is in love with anorexic allure.
When I took a close look about these pictures, I realized they were a plagiary of my work already done a long time before:

The obvious plagiary is flagrant.
She just copied my pictures.
She stole ideas, style, form, look and feel, identity of my work, my author’s rights with her total witting plagiary of my work.
For me the reason of this big mistake is she’s not anorexic and she speaks about something she doesn’t know.
She just used the symbol of extreme sharp thinness and the shield of virginity and beauty of “blé en herbe” because
she deeply, aspired to this buried, concealed estheticism. There is only a question of myth of inaccesible abstract beauty.
In my opinion, if she wanted to denounce pro-ana websites, she had to show real body of anorexic persons and not this soft,
clean, coquettish “verdict”.
Because the reality of anorexic body is:
